    Welcome to Bakersfield Scouting

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America (founded in 1910) is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

Scout units typically hold weekly activity/training meetings, monthly field trips and annual summer camp adventures. Cub Scout Packs accomodate boys ages 7-10. Boy Scout Troops cover boys ages 11-18. Venturer Crews are co-ed groups for ages 16-20. Most units are sponsored by volunteer organizations and encourage direct parent involvement. Big emphasis on outdoor activity.
