Delano (pop: 50,300) is located north of Bakersfield. It was founded as a railroad town in 1873, and his since become the second largest city in Kern County.

Lake Woollomes County Park
This 455 acre lakefront park surrounds Lake Woollomes, an equalizing reservoir for the Friant-Kern Canal, which is used for irrigation of the surrounding fields. The waters attract as many ducks, geese and other waterfowl as people along its three mile shoreline. The surrounding area includes almond groves and grape vineyards.
