The Lake Ming community is that area of the upper Kern River Corridor just northeast of Downtown Bakersfield. And it includes the regional park and their famous zoo, California Living Museum.

California's Premier Native Zoo and Garden - Founded in 1980 and opened to the public in 1983, CALM displays and interprets native animals, plants, specimens, and artifacts to teach a respect for all living things through education, recreation, conservation, and research. Zoological and biological exhibits cover California wildlife and plants including mountain lions, desert
tortoise, fox, eagles and reptile house. Summer education programs for children.

Located just 15 minutes from Downtown Bakersfield, the Rio Bravo Country Club Golf Course offers a welcome contrast to the flat-land courses of the Valley floor. This private, member-only facility features a championship 18-hole golf course sculpted out of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Driving range and practice area included.

Private club open to members only since September 1985, with a 18 hole championship golf course on a
parkland and water featured layout that has a total yardage of 6,801 yards spread out over 167 acres of land.
Amenities include: Full Grass Driving Range, Two Large Putting Greens, Pitching and Chipping Green and Practice Sand Bunker. Men's Club, Ladies' Club, Couple's Club, Bridge Club and Junior Golf Program.
