West Kern Oil Museum

In the mid 1920's over 7000 wooden derricks covered the landscape of Kern County. This museum has many exhibits about the early years of the California oil industry.

Carrizo Plain National Monument
Largest single native grassland remaining in California. It is one of the easiest places to view surface fractures of the San Andreas Fault which traverses below the plain.
