Piedras Blancas Lighthouse

This active historic lighthouse was built in 1875 and damaged by a series of earthquakes in 1948.
Visitors experience early coastal history, early state history, maritime history, marine mammals, native coastal plants, native coastal animals, and native coastal insects in the BLM designated Outstanding Natural Area.
Immediately south of the lighthouse is the largest elephant seal rookery on the west coast. These is a viewing area for this pinniped colony.

Location: Two miles north of Cambria along Coast Highway (SR-1);
One of the oldest units of the California State Park System famed for the coastal bluffs and promontories
of the scenic park offer unobstructed views of the ocean and rocky shore.
A 3.3 mile trail runs through parts of the San Simeon Natural Preserve and the Washburn Campground.
Recreational activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, bird watching and whale watching.

Location: On Coast Highway (SR-1) directly across from Hearst Castle;
Visitors can hike, swim, fish and explore the beach. A protected cove also offers visitors pier fishing and deep-sea fishing from chartered boats.
Recreational activities include picnicking, swimming, fishing, boating, ocean kayaking, surfing and sunbathing.
This day use area offers 24 picnic sites, 150 parking spaces, restrooms, water faucets, barbecue grill stands and easy beach access.
San Simeon Bay Trail
- Scenic 2-mile trail leads north along the beach bluffs from the fishing pier.
