Humboldt Lagoons State Park

The park offers boating, fishing, bird watching, beach combing, hiking and if you bring your own boat then enjoy exploring the lagoon.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park
This unique environment includes the largest remaining old growth redwood forest in the world.
Facilities include family camps, environmental camps, group camps, trail camps, and a horse camp.
Over 100 miles of trail await exploration by hikers, bikers, and horse riders.
The South Fork Eel River provides fishing, boating, and swimming opportunities.
Patrick's Point State Park
North Humboldt County
A dramatic shoreline ranging from broad sandy beaches to sheer cliffs that rise high above the Pacific Ocean
offers great opportunities to explore tide pools, search for agates and driftwood, watch whales, sea lions and brilliant sunsets.
See also a recreated Yurok Village, a native plant garden, visitor center, and three family campgrounds.
Benbow Lake SRA
Today the park consists of campsites and a large day-use picnic area. Hiking, picnicking and camping are popular summer time activities, while salmon and steelhead fishing are popular in the winter.
King Range National Conservation Area
A spectacular meeting of land and sea is certainly the dominant feature of King Range National Conservation Area (NCA).
Mountains seem to thrust straight out of the surf; a precipitous rise rarely surpassed on the continental U.S. coastline.
Harry Merlo State Recreation Area
North Humboldt County
Adjacent to Humboldt Lagoons State Park, this area is a popular place for visitors who like to fish.
The Hammond Trail
Over five miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails linking Arcata, McKinleyville, and the surrounding areas.
Following the historic Hammond Lumber Company railroad grade, the trail begins at the Hammond Bridge, crossing the Mad River and
extens north to Clam Beach County Park (which features overnight camping).
It is a part of both the California Coastal Trail (CCT) and the Pacific Coast Bike Route.
Azalea State Reserve
A reserve for western azalea (Rhododendron occidentale). Each spring, a profusion of pink and white blossoms scents the air.
There is a picnic area available. Plan to visit in April and May when azaleas are in bloom.
Redwood National Park
The Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP) features an impressive diversity of nature.
Considered as one of the most unique ecosystems on our planet where there is a serene balance
between ancient coast redwood groves, gray whales, black bears, banana slugs and much more.
Includes Del Norte, Jedediah Smith and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Parks.
Richardson Grove SP
Richardson Grove State Park is where you first encounter significant old growth redwood forest when coming north. The 9th tallest coast redwood, a fallen tree ring study conducted in 1933, and a walk-through tree are immediately available.
Smith River National Recreation Area
The beautiful Smith River offers fishing for steelhead, trout, and salmon.
During the summer months, the pure, clean waters of the Smith River are perfect
for swimming, rafting, or fishing and the forested mountainsides present occasions
for hiking, bird watching, wildflower walks, or perhaps just lounging in the sun.
Six Rivers National Forest - Crescent City
Six Rivers National Forest lies east of Redwood State and National Parks
in northwestern California, and stretches southward from the Oregon border for about 140 miles.
It encompasses 957,590 National Forest acres and 133,410 acres of other ownership.
Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park - Orick CA
Prairie Creek is a sanctuary of old growth coast redwood. Visitors may enjoy hiking, nature study, wildlife viewing, beach combing, picnicking, a visitor center with exhibits and a nature store.
Park wildlife is both abundant and also consists of old growth redwood including prairies and 10 miles of scenic Gold Bluffs Beach and several campground facilities.
Humboldt Lagoons State Park - Orick CA

Trinidad State Beach
This beautiful California State Beach is tucked in a secluded cove near the town of Trinidad.
Take a short hike through the woods, across open bluffs, and past seasonal wildflowers down to the beach.
Little River State Beach
Little River State Beach features dunes and a broad open beach.
The beach is bordered on the north by Little River and on the south by
Clam Beach County Park which provides camping and day use facilities.
Castle Rock National Wildlife Refuge
Castle Rock is an island located a half mile offshore of Crescent City, California.
A 14-acre offshore rock with steep cliffs and sparse vegetation - The refuge is not open to public access.
Established in 1981 to protect an important migration staging area of the endangered Aleutian Canada goose.
Second largest seabird breeding colony in California.
