Fontana (pop: 180,000) was founded in 1913, it remained essentially rural until World War II, when a large steel mill arrived in the area. It is now a regional hub of the trucking industry, with Interstate 10 and State Route 210 transecting the city from east to west, and Interstate 15 passing diagonally through its northwestern quadrant. Fontana is home to the largest of the San Bernardino County system libraries, a renovated historic theater, a municipal park, and the Auto Club Speedway on the site of the Kaiser Steel Mill.
Two-mile D-shaped oval motorsports racetrack that is 75 feet wide with 15-foot apron and 14-degree turn banking. The grandstand has accumulated a total capacity for 92,100 and includes 28 skyboxes since they opened in 1997 on the site of the old Kaiser Steel mill.
