To the south are views of the San Bernardino and to the north is the Mojave Desert. On a clear day you can see for over one hundred miles. The highway runs between the 4000 and 8000 foot elevation levels through a heavily wooded area of the San Bernardino National Forest. There are several lookout vistas and forest trailheads along the way.
