From the fertile agricultural land of California's great central valley, to the soaring peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains,
and the world renowned grandeur of Yosemite National Park the Greater Yosemite Council (GYC) in Modesto, CA serves 17,000 youth in our council.
The character developing programs of Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, and Venturing are provided in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America.
The Greater Yosemite Council serves the following Central California counties: Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne.
The Greater Yosemite Council is divided into 7 administrative districts, covering the areas shown in the map. The districts are:
- Big Valley - Stockton Valley
- Chief Tenaya - Modesto
- El Capitan - Turlock
- Forty Niner - Serving Lodi, Galt, Calaveras and North San Joaquin counties.
- Golden Heritage - Tuolomne County and Highway 4 area of Calaveras County
- Waukeen - Tracy, Mountain House, Lathrop, Manteca, Weston Ranch, Ripon, & Escalon
- Wawona - Merced, Los Banos, Atwater, Mariposa and Yosemite
Camp Mensinger [CJM]
BSA Wilderness Camp

CJM is located in the Stanislaus National Forest of the High Sierras at 4800 feet elevation.
This old lumber camp was restored in the 1930's and turned over to the Boy Scouts.
It is a great setting for a fun Scouting experience.
The summer camp program features over 33 merit badges including Astronomy, Archery, Rifle Shooting, Motorboating, Canoeing, Swimming and Fishing.
All new Soap Creek Pass High Adventure Program is designed for young people age 14 thru 20 and includes COPE, Bike hikes, Sailing, Climbing, Firearms and Wilderness Survival.
Camp McConnell

Located three miles East of Livingston, CA on the Merced River this facility is designed for Junior Leader Training.
It is open to camping year round with several campsites are located in a grove of trees near the river.
Home to popular Cub Scout Resident Camp Akela featuring six summer sessions.
Camp Akela program and activities will include archery, BB guns, crafts, nature, swimming, competitions and more.
Camp Isom

Located in the western portion of Stanislaus County, this 160 acre provides a remote and rustic primitive camp setting - popular for backpacking expeditions.
Camp Isom is a 160 acre primitive camp located along Orestimba Creek in the Coast Range, nine miles west of Newman.
This wilderness area is abundant with trees and wildlife. In the past Scouts have backpacked from Isom over to Coe Park and exited to Morgan Hill.

These can include crafts, archery, BB guns, leather work, woodworking, and swimming.
