Tour Klamath National Forest
1,700,000-acres federal forest reserve in Siskiyou County (CA) and Jackson County (OR).
In the lower elevations, you'll find park-like stands of Ponderosa Pine trees, while in the
higher elevations, the Douglas fir, sub-alpine fir and mixed conifer stands beg to be explored.

Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge
Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex
Lower Klamath Refuge is our nation’s first waterfowl refuge. This 46,900 acre
Refuge is a varied mix of shallow freshwater marshes,
open water, grassy uplands, and croplands that are intensively managed to provide feeding,
resting, nesting, and brood rearing habitat for waterfowl and other water birds.
Marble Mountain Wilderness Area
There are many trailheads for this Wilderness Area within ten miles of Happy Camp.
The Marble Mountains cover thousands of acres, and contain almost a hundred lakes.
Deer, bear, elk, and mountain lion are common in the Wilderness Area.
Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex
Encompasses 39,116 acres of mostly open water and
croplands. Approximately 17,000 acres are leased by farmers under a program administered
by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. These crops, together with the waste grain and potatoes from
the lease program are a major food source for migrating and wintering waterfowl.
Tour Pacific Crest Trail PCT
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is the jewel in the crown of America’s scenic trails, spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada.
Hikers cross the beauty of the desert, glaciated expanses of the Sierra Nevada,
and provides commanding vistas of volcanic peaks and glaciers in the Cascade Range.
The trail also passes through historic mining sites and evidence of human’s endless quest
for natural resources.
Butte Valley National Grasslands
Location: northern Siskiyou County between Dorris and Macdoel along Highway US-97;
14,250 acre grasslands reserves dedicated in July 1991 as the nation's 20th National Grassland.
It is administered as part of the Klamath National Forest along the Klamath River Basin.
This area provides abundant birdwatching oppurtunities.
