    Yreka Historic District
    Discover an early 1850's gold rush town. The historic buildings on Miner Street date back to 1850’s. Visitors will find on display throughout town historical statues and murals crafted by local artisans.

    In 1851, Abraham Thompson's mules pulled up gold flecks with the roots of the grass they were eating triggering the Yreka Gold Rush. Miners rushed the valley that had previously been the home to Shasta and Karuk Indians. Only six years later, Yreka was an incorporated city.

Excursion's depart from the 1889 Yreka Depot and run up the Shasta River Valley to Montague Railroad Museum. Passengers are treated to the unique sights, sound and smell that only a steam locomotive can produce.
