Fallbrook California (pop: 29,100) is a large rural community in the most northern part of San Diego County. Its vast collection of avocado and orange groves has earned it the title of Avocado Capitol of the World. Since its founding in 1869, Fallbrook has accumulated some 68 wholesale and retail nurseries that produce many sub-tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Annual festival held the last weekend in April featuring this major local produce item in a big variety of edible options. Expect to see 70,000 people to descend on the streets of Fallbrook where 350 vendors serve up samples of guacomole, avocado salsa, avocado chips, and other delights made from the omnipresent green fruit. Look for the Avocado Experience which will provide a lot of information about the avocado industry. FYI - Avocados are rich in potassium and vitamins E and B6.
