Camp Pendleton USMC
The largest amphibious training facility in the nation, Camp Pendleton covers 17 miles of Pacific coastline north of Oceanside. It is home to 35,000 active duty Marines and their dependents of the U.S. 1st Marine Division and related units. Visitors may tour during daylight hours - enter thru the Main Gate off the I-5 Freeway.

While many military bases share one or more of Camp Pendleton's training features, none match its broad spectrum. Camp Pendleton has a population of nearly 40,000 Marines and Sailors and provides a variety of services and recreational activities.

Mission San Luis Rey de Francia

Known as the "King of Missions" - Mission San Luis Rey is the largest of the California missions and a national landmark. Franciscan friars at the mission conduct regular tours. This church still holds regular worship services and hosts special functions during the week.

Founded on June 13, 1798 by Fr. Fermin de Lasuen and currently operated by the Franciscan Friars of California, the mission provides both guided and self-guided tours, a museum, gift shop, Franciscan Retreat Center, and Cemetery as well as various functions and events. Retreat center includes swimming pool, volleyball courts, basketball courts and gardens.

The Wave Waterpark - Vista CA [MAY-SEP]
$3.8 million state-of-the-art city operated family aquatic park that includess waterslides, crazy river, surf pool, swimming pool, and a very wet children's playground.

Tour Oceanside Harbor
Oceanside Harbor is home to 950 boat slips, a private yacht club, several hotels, restaurants and gift shop boutiques. Also has one of the best beaches in North County and is a popular for a wide range of boating and watersports activities.

California Surf Museum - Downtown Oceanside

Founded in February 1986 - the California Surf Museum presents standing displays of surfing equipment and photographs. Every six months it introduces a new feature exhibit highlighting one of the pioneering legends of the surfing world. The museum also retails surfing-related merchandise.



Oceanside Museum of Art - OMA - Downtown Oceanside

A cultural jewel located in downtown Oceanside in an historic Irving Gill designed building. In addition to eye-opening art, OMA offers art instruction at the OMA-School of Art, chamber music in the museum galleries as part of the Pier View Way Concert Series, bus tours to other art museums, lectures, workshops and museum tours. When Phase One and Two are complete OMA will be comprised of three joined buildings: the venerable 1934 Irving Gill designed Oceanside City Hall, the 1929 Gill designed Fire Station #1, and the Frederick Fisher designed central Pavilion.

World Body Surfing Championships [AUG] By Oceanside Pier
Labor Day Pier Swim - Annual event since 1930, over 400 swimmers hit the water for a 1-mile swim race out and around the pier.
