Overview - Orange County Catholic Church

The Catholic church is the largest religious denomination in America. Local Catholic history dates back to 1776 and the founding of the San Juan Capistrano Mission. The church saw continual expansion over the next two centuries until 1976, when His Holiness Pope Paul VI established the Diocese of Orange with The Most Reverend William R. Johnson installed as First Bishop of Orange.
