Plumas County (pop: 20,800) is found in the northern Sierra Nevada portion of California. The county is named for the Feather River (Rio de las Plumas).

The county seat is Quincy. The only incorporated city in the county is Portola.

Plumas County has numerous lakes and streams which are renowned for their fishing. Outdoor activities are a major tourist draw. A small part of Lassen Volcanic National Park extends into the northwest corner of the county.
