The Easter Lily Capital of the World, Smith River is also world famous for salmon and steelhead fishing and we host numerous fishing derbies throughout the year.

The town of Smith River allows for easy access to local river activities such as fishing, kayaking, rafting, river guides and day trips. The Smith River is one of the last major free flowing rivers in California, it is clean, clear and a natural spawning ground for the native fish.

Easter Lily Farms
On either side of the border between Oregon and California, and within view of the Pacific Ocean, there is a soil and climate that is ideal to the raising of Easter Lily bulbs. This is the same bulb that is later greenhouse grown to produce such magnificent flowers for our cherished Easter holiday.

Smith River California has the title of Easter Lily Capital of the World.

Aleutian Goose Festival - Late MAR
Annual event since 1999 - features birding, nature and Indian cultural experiences that you will want to remember. Our birding, nature, and heritage celebration offers 80 events.

Rowdy Creek Fish Hatchery
Smith River, CA

Numerous school children visit the hatchery and several of the local schools have developed classroom incubation programs. Salmon Spawning Seasons run November to March.

Pelican Beach California
Pelican Beach offers beautiful ocean views from its undeveloped location next to the Oregon border. The beach has the distinction of being the northern-most state beach.

Tolowa Dunes State Park
This park takes in some of the finest wetlands habitat on California’s northern coast. This is an ancient sand dune complex that has evolved into several distinct ecological communities.

Follow the trail through ancient driftwood logs into a fragile dune system filled with unique native plant species, miniature wetlands, and old-growth Sitka spruce trees.
