The Golden Empire Council, first chartered in 1920, serves 17,000 youth members in a large section of Northern California, primarily the Sacramento Valley and the northern Sierra Nevada mountains.
It covers 16 counties in Northern California: Amador, Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Selano, Shasta, Sierra, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Yolo, and Yuba counties.
Camp Cole
Location: 7 miles north of Cisco Grove, California off of I-80 at an elevation of 6700;
This summer adventure wilderness camp feature program opportunities for scouting advancement.
It is also base camp for The Cole Trek, a six-day, 50-mile trek through mountainous terrain, sparkling lakes and breathtaking views.
Cole also offers Mountain Biking Treks, Rock Climbing, Mountain man Program, and a unique Build Your Own Program week.
Camp Lassen GEC
Location: Off Highway 32 near Butte Meadows;
At an elevation of 4800' amidst beautiful evergreen trees, Camp Lassen offers both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts a traditional scouting program.
Summer camp program includes shooting range, horseback riding, metalworking, COPE Course, outpost camping and climbing wall.
Horseback riding, mountain bikes, and the fantastic and unique Lassen to Lassen High Adventure Backpacking Trek are available for the older Scouts.
Camp Pollock GEC
Urban Campground - Sacramento CA
Scout Lodge built in 1923, located on the American River near downtown Sacramento, west of the 16th Street Bridge.
Short-term campers can use this base for such activities as rafting on the American River, biking on the Jedediah Smith Memorial Bicycle Trail,
city-hiking in California's historic State capitol, or to tour Old Sacramento's Train Museum.
Camp Winton GEC
Location: Bear River Reservoir, on Highway 88, north of Jackson CA;
Mountain Aquatics Scout camp found at an elevation of 5,900' under the whispering pines along the scenic waterfront of Bear River Reservoir.
Aquatic activities are a specialty at Winton, with water-skiing, sailing and canoeing among those of special interest to scouts.
Overnight canoe treks are available for high adventure programs. BSA High Adventure program called "Mokelumne Expedition." Opened in 1958.
A first-year scout program, Air-Rifle target shooting, archery, arts and crafts, rock climbing, and nature round out the traditional program at Winton.
