Chula Vista (Pop: 227,500) is the second largest city in San Diego County and the 14th largest in the state of California. It is found in the southern part of the county. In the 1880's the land was subdivided from the National Ranch and development began of Chula Vista. The year 1888 saw the completion of the Sweetwater Dam which provided drinking water to the residents and irrigation for the farmlands. It is home to Knott's Soak City, Coors Amphtheater, Olympic Training Center and several parks and wildlife refuge habitats. The local community surged in size in the 1940's when the Rohr Aircraft Company located itself here. The principal downtown area is located in the northwestern section of the city. It generally lies between E Street (Hwy S17 / Bonita Rd) and H Street and between Broadway and 1st Avenue.
