Overview - San Gabriel Valley Boy Scouts
Scouting programs help young people reach their full potential by turning them away from drugs, gangs, juvenile delinquency and violence and helping them to focus on developing positive traits such as physical and mental fitness, self-worth, self-esteem, self-reliance, personal satisfaction, patriotism, and respect for others. While camping is one of the primary reasons that a boy joins Scouting, it is also an ideal opportunity to develop character, build teamwork skills and grow as a leader. SGVC is one of the five councils serving greater Los Angeles County with headquarters in Pasadena.
Since 1925, Cherry Valley has been one of the most popular of all Boy Scout Camps with a great spot for many water sports including snorkeling, Scuba diving, canoeing, rowing, sailing and swimming. Because it is located on the leeward side of the island, the cove is calm making it a perfect place for lots of fun in the water. Hikes over mountainous terrain, war canoe races, touring an old silver mine, a sea lab with a touch tank so you can learn about local marine life is available.
