The Rose Parade
Featuring over 120
units including majestic floral floats, high-stepping equestrian units and spirited marching bands. Starts at
8AM on New Years Day and will be televised across the nation. Definitely the biggest annual parade event in the world.
Over 5 million attendance plus a huge television telecast in multiple languages.
The first Tournament of Roses was staged in 1890 by members of Pasadena's Valley Hunt Club,
former residents of the East and Midwest eager to showcase their new home's mild winter weather.
The parade starts at the corner of Orange Grove and Colorado Blvd and runs about 5 miles down the length of Colorado Blvd
to Sierra Madre Blvd where it turns north.
Overnite Camping - Colorado Blvd is closed on
New Years Eve for spectators to camp out overnite to reserve a good
viewing spot for the parade (big overnite street party).
Grandstand Seating - Tickets for the grandstand seats must be obtained months in advance.
Float Staging Area - Parade sponsors spend months designing and building floats. The final staging area
is Orange Grove Blvd where final float preparations are made and units assemble for the parade.
Float Display Area - After the parade, float entries are parked at Victory Park on Sierra Madre Blvd for several
days for public viewing.
Expo Village - Dec 29 to Jan 2nd.
Events include Festival, museum, float decorating, post parade showcase.
Rose Parade and Rose Bowl theme related "theme park". Watch as a variety of fruit, seed, bark,
grass and of course flowers, by hundres of hardworking volunteers.

This ornate mansion, once owned by chewing gum manufacturer William Wrigley, Jr.,
was built between 1908 and 1914 and today serves as the headquarters for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association.
A two-year restoration was recently completed on the house.
