California Air National Guard
Fly Their Aircraft using Their Fuel!

Aviation can make for an expensive hobby with the high cost for training, fuel costs, maintenance costs,
and the purchase price of your own airplane. Many aspiring pilots elect to join the California Air National Guard.
They provide the training, fuel, maintenance and aircraft for you. You get to fly one weekend a month and participate
in regular training missions, aerial surveillance, search and rescue and other challening roles. Also a great way
to tour our wonderful state.

Several California area Summer Scout Camps now offer the Aviation Merit Badge for boys ages 11-16 that usually
includes a chance to operate a small aircraft in a safe, controlled environment. Your boy must be enrolled in
boy scouts and then you can contact any of the scout camps below about joining a summer buddy patrol unit.
