Castaic Lake State Recreation Area
Largest recreational reservoir in the State Water Project terminal of its west branch, Castaic Lake includes 29 miles of shoreline and the 425-foot tall Castaic Dam.
Castaic Lake has two bodies of water. Lower lake is for non-power boating and canoeing.
Upper lake is for sailing, power boating, water and jet skiing, and fishing.
Other recreational activities include hiking, camping, biking trails, picnic areas and playgrounds.
Clear Lake State Park - Kelseyville CA
Several fishing organizations call Clear Lake the number one Bass Fishing site in the nation.
There are also catfish, blackfish, Sacramento perch, hitch, crappie and bluegill.
There are also nature trails to an ancient indian village site and waterfowl nesting areas.

Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex
Encompasses 39,116 acres of mostly open water and
croplands. Approximately 17,000 acres are leased by farmers under a program administered
by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. These crops, together with the waste grain and potatoes from
the lease program are a major food source for migrating and wintering waterfowl.
Salton Sea
One of the largest inland bodies of saltwater in the world (and the biggest lake in California),
During winter months it is home to over four million birds (representing over 400 species).
Visitors should be prepared for extremely hot weather during summer months.

Lake Woollomes County Park
This 455 acre lakefront park surrounds Lake Woollomes, an equalizing reservoir for the Friant-Kern Canal, which is used for irrigation of the surrounding fields.
The waters attract as many ducks, geese and other waterfowl as people along its three mile shoreline. The surrounding area includes almond groves and grape vineyards.
