Anderson Marsh State Historic Park - Clearlake CA
This is a large park preserving the native ancestral home of the ancient Pomo indians who lived here nearly 10,000 years ago.
The park also has a number of nature trails to explore the surrounding grass-covered hills, oak woodlands and tule marsh.
Other highlights include the historic Anderson Ranch and the annual Bluegrass Festival held the second weekend of September.

The exhibits and interpretive emphasis are on American Indian groups of the Southwest, Great Basin, and California culture regions, since Antelope Valley was a major prehistoric trade corridor linking all three of these culture regions.
El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park
This 1782 Spanish military fortress isthe oldest building in Santa Barbara and the second oldest in California.
Visitors can step back and view this historic site surrounded by modern buildings.
Fort Humboldt State Historic Park
Established in 1853 by the US Army as a buffer between Native Americans, gold-seekers and settlers.
It was placed on a bluff overlooking Humboldt Bay and Buck's Port, named after David Buck, a member of the Josiah Gregg exploration party.

Restored U.S. Army Dragoon post dating back to 1854-64. The troops were responsible for the security of Southern California.
Also home to the experimental U.S. Camel Corps - 34 camels that hauled supplies from San Antonio and help to survey the

At its heyday, the Hearst Castle was the ultimate weekend getaway for
the rich and famous. Visitors enjoyed the many pools, epicurean delights,
lavish costume parties and magnificent gardens. It is one of the most
popular attractions in California.
Railtown 1897 SHP
Railtown 1897 is a historic train depot and collection of restored steam locomotives and rail cars, many of which have been featured in many recent Hollywood movie productions.

San Pasqual Battlefield SHP

Battle of San Pasqual : December 6, 1846; Mexican-American War;
Memorial to honor those who participated in the San Pasqual Battle of
the Mexican-American War that was fought at this spot in 1846. The
battle was fought between about 100 men each representing Californianos
defending for Mexico and the advanced contingent of Gen. Stephen Kearney's
US Army of the West and took place only shortly before the arrival of the
Mormon Battalion.
