California Coastal Tidepools

California Coastal National Monument
Runs the entire length of the California coast (1,100 miles) between Oregon and Mexico, extends 12 nautical miles from the shoreline, and encompasses thousands of BLM administered islands, rocks, exposed reefs, and pinnacles above mean high tide.

Cabrillo National Monument
Some of the best coastal tidepools of California are located on the ocean side of the Cabrillo Monument. The very best time for tidepooling is during the winter months, when those good negative low tides occur during daylight hours when the park is open. In the summer months, the negative low tides generally occur in the middle of the night.
